This equipment could then be upgraded by either using material or energy, or whatever kind of collectible they want to put in the game. This would include items or equipment that would allow Samus to progress through the game by allowing access to previously inaccessible areas, such as the varia/gravity suit, grappling beam, certain visors, ice missiles, etc. Main upgrades should be received through normal progression to the stories.

I would envision MP4 using some of these methods to gear up Samus.

You can purchase/find armor pieces and then upgrade those at a shop with money and materials, you can upgrade his Axe and unlock plot driven items at specific points in the story, and you can upgrade/unlock his combat skills using experience points earned from fighting enemies or completing main story or side quests. In GoW, there are multiple ways to upgrade Kratos. I'd like to be able to approach encounters in less scripted ways and with more options. Like, you pretty much have to use your grapple beam to get rid of the shields in MP3. In MP1-3, for the most part, there was a "right" way to defeat an enemy.

Being able to seamlessly use other weapons/items such as the grapple beam or morph ball in meaningful ways in combat would be so much fun and would really make Samus feel more like the bad-ass we already know she is. They even had epic finishing moves in SR that weren't dissimilar to GoW, so something like that could transfer over as well. Samus Returns introduced the melee counter mechanic, and I think ideas similar to that would go a long way to introduce more depth to the combat. I don't believe the combat in Metroid needs to go the same lengths as GoW as that could potentially alienate a more casual player base that Nintendo would be aiming for, but it definitely needs to do something more than what MP1-3 did. So obviously, GoW is an action franchise at its core, so the combat system in that game is very deep. This would also make the transition to morph ball mode more seamless, though the camera could still be moved to a different position in this mode, like farther back or slightly above depending on the room or puzzle you're currently in. It would be best of both worlds in terms of still being able to aim and shoot similarly to the other MP games, while also being able to actually see Samus (and all of her awesome suit/arm cannon upgrades which I'll get to in a second). The third person, over the shoulder view I think could be phenomenal for Metroid. There are a lot of things this game does that I feel could translate over to Metroid Prime 4 that would help breathe new life into and modernize this franchise. I couldn't quite visualize what that would look like for Metroid Prime, until I picked up the new God of War recently.

All I could say for sure was that I wanted it to be "Breath of the Wild-ed", meaning, I wanted something evolutionary for the franchise, while still maintaining the core principles that has made the series what it is. Ever since they've announced MP4, I've been struggling to figure out what I want from the game exactly.
